ramblings, rantings, and ravings of a bemused mind

The Republicans are in town this week. I'd love to go into the city and annoy some people, but I'll leave that to Michael Moore...I think I'll just stay as far away from NYC as I can this week. Which unfortunately is not that far since I work right outside of Queens! Thankfully a lot of city residents have decided this is a good week to take a vacation, so traffic hasn't been much worse than usual.

I'm looking for a new (used) car. I'm not going crazy about it, but I would like something a little more reliable than the 1988 LeSabre I'm driving right now. I don't think it'll last the winter, especially if it gets as cold as it did last year. So, I'm hoping to find something small and reliable, good on gas milage, and preferably blue or green. Not that color is that important. I'd love to get a manual transmission, but the wife will be driving it too, so I'll probably settle for an automatic. Or else I'll be teaching her to drive the stick!

I'm old : I've started taking Metamucil. I found out a few years ago that I have diverticulosis, and the new gastroenterologist I saw last week very strongly urged that I up my fiber intake. I've known for a while that I need to do it, but I've been avoiding the issue. I dunno, something about taking a fiber supplement just make me feel old-fartish. I'm only 31 for crissakes!

Maybe it'll help me lose a couple of pounds.

Steve had his annual BBQ this past weekend. There weren't as many people as last year, but I'd say he definitely had over a hundred guests. I was pretty good about imbibing - I didn't get totally plastered. I had a good time and drank plenty of beer, ate plenty of food, and even played a little v-ball.

Positive reinforcement for not getting shit-faced : B and I watched some pron after we got home and got the kids all tucked in bed. Nice having a new DVD player in the bedroom.

I've been feeling a little blah lately. Combination I think of having lots of little things that should be getting done that aren't, and a slow cash flow projected for the next week or two. I want to pay the utilities on time, but I want to pay the mortgage on time more. And have a little left over for beer and Taco Bell. :P

$$$ should be a bit more plentiful by the 20th. Hopefully...
