Fuckin' Mets....
Anyone who knows me at all knows I don't pay much attention to sports. Well, I think I've figured out part of the reson why. I couldn't possibly take following a team week in, week out, just to have them lose it all in fuckin' game 7. Or ya know, in the fourth quarter, or third period, or whatever. I prefer fiction. Sure, maybe Spider-Man will get his ass kicked by the Hobgoblin, or Han Solo gets frozen in carbonite, but you know by the next issue or Ehp!isode or whatever the good guys will prevail. I can't wait ten freaking years for a team to have a good season, and then watch them lose in the playoffs. And I can't jump on board with a team that's already winning. That's cheating - especially if they're a big team that buys all the good players. I realize it's a fucked-up mindset I have - I want to root for the underdog, but then I'm bummed when they lose.
So maybe this is one of my life challenges. I could start following a sucky-ass team and learn to accept loss and failure. Or I could just pop in a DVD and know that even though Khan has Kirk's balls to the wall, JT will turn that shit around soon enough with the help of our favorite Vulcan - who will be back again in the next movie despite being all dead and stuff.
